Chapel Hill

A siege story. The world outside is sick, she has dug both their graves until her fingers bled, and the mob at the windows wants her love taken down. Her love is real and useless at the same time, and she concedes it plainly. She will always love him, but her love has never been enough to save him.

He dies like a crucifixion, nailed and crucified while the chapel bell echoes down the hill. His pain ends where hers begins, and the song leaves her holding the difference.
