Grief fusing a body to furniture. She is becoming part of the hospital bed as she loses her part of him, a violent wreck of salvation and loss. God as her witness she will put him in the ground, and every time she held his life it made her want to keep her own.

The song’s most dangerous comfort is a promise, so I’m coming, on my way now, asking him to wait for her. Only at the end does the scene the title kept offstage appear, lying with him in that bed with her arms around his body as the bullet hole bled, days of holding on past the point of knowing.
