Amber Waves

The long exhale of a closer. The title tilts the anthem’s amber waves of grain toward something bruised, and the song drifts through numbness the way the opener drifted through faith, half lit and half here.

Its last line is the record’s final report from inside the body it has been examining all along, feeling itself failing. After ninety minutes of dread and want, Perverts does not end saved. It ends still breathing, which the record counts as an ending.
