Head in the Wall

Rage and doubt in the same breath. Sometimes he makes her want to put her head through the wall, and sometimes she wonders if she ever knew him at all. Every hurt gets filed as her fault while the town shrugs, boys will be boys, and the harm turns inward, blood soaking the bedsheets, her head held underwater just to drown out the noise.

The trap gets said in full. She cannot get out and cannot run away, cursed since the start, dying alone next to him in a piece of shit town, allowed to leave only once they are both dead. The song’s violence, the shot up school, the cursed cops and God and town, is the fantasy of a way out rather than a plan, and the song circles back to the wall.
